In my family, when baby is born, we give bowls with sweetmeat & have big aqeeqa party. my husband says this is wrong.

Answer

This occasion is a very happy and joyful one. Therefore, to give presents for the newborn baby, out of love and joy is permissible.

However, to host a major feast and party at which there will be intermingling of sexes, music, women exposing their beauty, etc. is totally forbidden and prohibited.
