About
What this archive is, and what it is not.
Fatwa Explorer is a complete, searchable republication of the Askimam.org archive — 24,865 rulings issued over more than twenty-five years, reproduced in full and unaltered with permission.
It exists because the answers were hard to find. They were spread across a website built for asking new questions rather than reading old ones, and a reader who could not name the topic they needed had little chance of reaching it. Everything here is aimed at that reader: full-text search across every ruling, browsing by topic, scholar, country and year, and a stable address for each answer so it can be cited and linked.
Nothing has been rewritten. Each ruling appears as it was published, and every record links back to its source on Askimam.org. Where markup was removed it was markup and never text — scripts and embeds picked up over decades of pasting from email clients. Where a correction has been made to a mangled passage, the original import is kept and the change is recorded.
This is not a fatwa service. No question asked here reaches a scholar, and no new ruling is issued here. To ask a question, go to Askimam.org.
