Question

Qurbani / Udhiyyah FAQ Part 3

By: Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Answer

FAQ 11

QURBANI BEFORE PERFORMING EID SALAH

In principle, one is allowed to do his Qurbani after the first ‘Eid Salah is performed in his city irrespective of whether he has performed the ‘Eid Salah or not. Those residing in villages and farms may perform the qurbani after sunrise as there is no Eid salah in such places.

FAQ 12

CAN I APPOINT ANOTHER PERSON TO DO QURBANI ON MY BEHALF?

It is mustahab (preferable) for the person doing Qurbani to slaughter the animal with his own hands. If one is unable to do so, he should at least be present in the place where the Qurbani is done. The Qurbani will be valid. One will not be out of the fold of Islam if he/she does not slaughter the animal himself/herself.
