What is the ruling of reciting Surah Fatihah in the last two Rakats of Fardh Salah?
Question
What is the ruling of reciting Surah Fatihah in the last two rakats of a Fardh Salah like zuhr, asr, and esha? Does salah break if one forget to recite Surah Fatihah in the last two rakats of Fardh Salah?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is Sunnah to recite Surah Fatihah in the last two Rakats of a four Rakat Fardh Salah.
If one forgets to recite Surah Fatihah in the last two Rakats of a Fardh Salah, the Salah will be valid.[1]

فرض کی اخیری دو رکعت میں قراءت نہ فرض ہے اور نہ واجب، بلکہ سورۃ فاتحہ کا پڑھنا سنت اور مستحب، لیکن بعض دوسرے مذاھب والے یہ گمان کرتے ہیں کہ اکناف اخیری دو رکعتوں میں سورۃ فاتحہ نہیں پڑھتے، یہ صحیح نہیں ہے، احناف سورہ فاتحہ ہمیشہ پڑھتے ہیں، لیکن اس کو سنت اور مستحب سمجھتے ہیں، نہ کہ فرض اور واجب ہیں
