Stationary items which contain pig fat
Question
Assalamalaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. I have come across that some pencils , like maybe faber castle , specially those which are produced in European countries have pig fat glued to them / or a coating of pig fat is around them so we aren’t supposed to use them. Is it true ? Do we need to be careful with regards to stationary items ?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Pigs are Najsul-Ayn (completely impure).[1] It is not permissible to use any products made from pigs as well as manufactured products/items that contain ingredients derived from pigs.
Allah Ta'ala says in the Quran Kareem:
قُلْ لَا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَى طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًا مَسْفُوحًا أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنْزِيرٍ فَإِنَّهُ رِجْسٌ أَوْ فِسْقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ بِهِ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ (سورة الأمعام-١٤٥)
O Muhammad tell them: I did not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, except the meat of an already dead animal, or running blood or the flesh of swine (pork) - for these are impure - or flesh of an animal which has become profane because of slaughtering in the names other than Allah. Even so, if anyone is forced in a helpless situation, intending neither disobedience nor transgression, you will find your Rabb Forgiving, Merciful. (Surah Al-An'aam-145)
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الْخِنْزِيرِ (سورة المائدة-٣)
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine (Surah Al-Maidah-3)
We could not ascertain whether Faber castell pencils are indeed coated in pig fat. In fact, their website states that some of their products are vegan friendly i.e., do not contain any animal products.
Nevertheless, you may email the company directly and inquire with regards to the specific pencil you wish to purchase. If it is indeed coated in pig fat, it will not be permissible to use.

بدائع الصنائع في ترتيب الشرائع (1/ 63)
(وَأَمَّا) الْخِنْزِيرُ: فَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ أَنَّهُ نَجِسُ الْعَيْنِ، لِأَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وَصَفَهُ بِكَوْنِهِ رِجْسًا فَيَحْرُمُ اسْتِعْمَالُ شَعْرِهِ وَسَائِرِ أَجْزَائِهِ، إلَّا أَنَّهُ رَخَّصَ فِي شَعْرِهِ لِلْخَرَّازِينَ لِلضَّرُورَةِوَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي يُوسُفَ فِي غَيْرِ رِوَايَةِ الْأُصُولِ أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ ذَلِكَ أَيْضًا نَصًّا وَلَا يَجُوزُ بَيْعُهَا فِي الرِّوَايَاتِ كُلِّهَا، وَلَوْ وَقَعَ شَعْرُهُ فِي الْمَاءِ الْقَلِيلِ، رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي يُوسُفَ أَنَّهُ يُنَجِّسُ الْمَاءَ، وَعَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنَّهُ لَا يُنَجِّسُ مَا لَمْ يَغْلِبْ عَلَى الْمَاءِ كَشَعْرِ غَيْرِهِوَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَصْحَابِنَا فِي غَيْرِ رِوَايَةِ الْأُصُولِ أَنَّ هَذِهِ الْأَجْزَاءَ مِنْهُ طَاهِرَةٌ؛ لِانْعِدَامِ الدَّمِ فِيهَا، وَالصَّحِيحُ أَنَّهَا نَجِسَةٌ؛ لِأَنَّ نَجَاسَةَ الْخِنْزِيرِ لَيْسَتْ لِمَا فِيهِ مِنْ الدَّمِ وَالرُّطُوبَةِ بَلْ لَعَيْنِهِ

(خلا) جلد (خنزير) فلا يطهر، وقدم؛ لأن المقام للإهانة(قوله فلا يطهر) أي؛ لأنه نجس العين، بمعنى أن ذاته بجميع أجزائه نجسة حيا وميتا، فليست نجاسته لما فيه من الدم كنجاسة غيره من الحيوانات، فلذا لم يقبل التطهير في ظاهر الرواية عن أصحابنا إلا في رواية عن أبي يوسف ذكرها في المنية
