Takfeer of Mufti Taqi Saheb Hafidhahullah - Is this correct?

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته
Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Saadiq Desai Sahib has issued a fatwa of kufr upon Hazrat Mufti Taqi Sahib on the basis of masks. Is it correct to do this? Please explain.

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We disagree with the Fatwa of Kufr issued by Molana Ahmed Saadiq Desai Saheb against Mufti Taqi Uthmani Saheb. You may find a detailed write up on the issue of Takfeer here.
There are differences of opinion on wearing the face masks. Find attached the Fatwa of Darul Uloom Deoband issued by five prominent Mufti’s.[i] We respect differences of opinions.
