Working as a data engineer - Is my income permissible?
Question
As-Salam-Walaikum
I had earlier posted this question on 15/05/2020, Since I did not get any response on this I'm posting it again and rephasing the question.
I'm working in a IT company as a data engineer. Due to the current covid-19 situation my current company is not doing good many of the employees have been layed-off and there is a pay cut of 28% for me, It is very likely that in coming days more employees will be asked to leave, this has been indicated to us indirectly.
I have been looking for job for sometime now but again due to this situation not many companies have been hiring and the opportunities have greatly reduced. I'm financially not stable and I fear if I loose my current job it will be difficult to support my family even for a month. My family is mostly dependent on my income which includes my parent, 2 yonger brothers and my grand parents.
Now Allhumdullila I have a opportunity with a video game company but the games build by this company are combat games and are violent in nature, there is no gambling involved. My job in this company will be of a data engineer and will not involve in build the games or selling them. So given my current situations is it permissible for me to work in this company?
Will appriciate guidance and suggestions in this matter

Your sensitivity to earning a halāl income is admirable. Earning a halāl income invokes the mercy of Allāh Ta’āla and barakah in one's wealth.
Data Engineers are the data professionals who prepare the “big data” infrastructure to be analysed by Data Scientists. They are software engineers who design, build, integrate data from various resources, and manage big data. [i]
If our understanding is correct, then being a data engineer for a gaming company will be permissible since data engineering is not associated with building the game itself. [ii]

بینک کی ملازمت کا حکم
سوال : ایک شخص جنوبی افریقہ کی بینک میں ملازمت کرتا ہے ، کیا ایسی ملازمت جائز ہے یانہیں ؟ اور تنخواہ حلال ہے یا حرام ؟ کیا بینک میں کسی قسم کی جائز ملازمت پائی جاتی ہے یانہیں ؟ کسی کاروبار میں سو فیصد معاملہ سودی ہو تو پھر وہاں ملازمت کا کیا حکم ہے ۔
الجواب : بینک کی وہ ملازمت جو خالص سودی حساب کتاب اور لین دین سے تعلق ہو ناجائز ہے ، اور اس کی تنخواہ حلال نہیں ، کیونکہ سودی اعانت ہے ، اور حدیث شریف کسی قسم کی سودی اعانت جائزنہیں ہے ۔ ہاں بینک میں وہ شعبے جو سود سے متعلق نہیں ہے مثلا بینک میں چپرای ، باور چی ، ڈرائیونگ ، جاروب کشی وغیرہ کی ملازمت جائز اور درست ہے ،

سوال : بینک کے کون کون سے شعبوں کے ملازمین کی آمدنی جائز ہے ؟
جواب : ان تمام شعبوں کی آمدنی ناجائز ہے جن شعبوں میں سود کا کام کرنا پڑتاہو ، سود کا لین دین یا لکھنا یا گواہی دینایا اس کے معاملہ میں کسی طرح کی معاونت کرنا یہ سب نا جائز ہے ، باقی ایسے معاملات جن کا سود سے کوئی تعلق نہیں ہے ، جیسے ایک آدمی کیشیئر بیٹھا ہوا ہے اورکوئی آدی چیک لاتا ہے اور اس کو چیک دیتا ہے ، یا ڈرائیور یا چپڑاسی ہے اس حد تک گنجائش ہے ۔
