Wuḍū’ over wart medication - Will my Wudhu be complete?

Question

Assalamualaikum.

If a person has a wart on his foot, and the medication is a liquid which turns solid when applied, can he perform wudhu over it? The medication is applied daily or twice a day. It may take several weeks for the wart to come out.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, if there is a medication applied to a skin growth which prevents water from reaching the skin and removing the medication will be harmful or interfere with the healing process, then pouring water over the medication will suffice.[1] Accordingly, it is permissible to perform wuū’ over the wart medication.
