Naming a child Manahil - What does it mean?

Question

I wanted to keep my daughter's name Manahil meaning spring, fountain (plural of word Manhal). Please let me know if i can keep this name according to Islam.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We apologize for the belated response.

May Allah make your child the coolness of your eyes and a means of reward for you in this world and the hereafter.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said:

إِنَّكُمْ تُدْعَوْنَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِأَسْمَائِكُمْ وَأَسْمَاءِ آبَائِكُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا أَسْمَاءَكُمْ

"On the Day of Resurrection you will be called by your names and by your father's names, so give yourselves good names.” (Sunan Abu Dawood : 4950)

“Manahil” (مناهل) is the plural of “Manhal” (منهل) which means water place, spring, pool. [1]

The name Manahil is suitable.
