Is it permissible to shop on black Friday sales?

Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Black Friday was first used to describe a financial crisis of 1869. The stock market catastrophe was set off by gold spectators who tried and failed to corner the gold market, resulting in the market to collapse and stocks to plummet.
Black Friday, as we know it today, originated in Philadelphia around the 1950s. The police used this term to describe the heavy traffic and the intense crowding of the retail stores that happened the day after Thanksgiving Day. In the 1980s, this term modified to refer to the time of the year where retailers offer highly promoted sales.[1]
The Shari’ ruling of Black Friday:
Black Friday does not have any religious or cultural connotations. It is merely a massive sale event.[2] It is permissible to take advantage of the purchase and sales on Black Friday.
Whilst benefitting from the sales of Black Friday, one can also earn rewards when going to the shopping centers by reciting the following Masnoon Dua which is recommended when generally attending the marketplace:
Translation: Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said the one who recites Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, Lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, Yuhyee wa yumeetu, Wa Huwa Hayyun Laa Yamootu, bi yadihil-khayr, Wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in Qadeer at the market place, Allah writes one million rewards for him and forgives one million sins and a house is prepared for him in Jannah.
Furthermore, one should also try to be dignified when going to the shopping centers for Black Friday shopping as there have been many reported arguments, physical altercations, and even deaths. It is unbecoming for a Muslim to be involved in such embarrassing situations.
