Nose piercing for women
Question
What should be the niyyah of a girl who wants to
get her nose and/or ears pierced? At what age is it appropriate?
Answer
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Allah Ta‘āla has permitted a woman to beautify and adorn herself with jewellery. This is a bounty of Allah Ta‘āla. The intention of having the nose or ears pierced should be to benefit from the bounties of Allah Ta‘āla for which a woman should be thankful.
Furthermore, the parent or guardian of the young woman may choose to decide which age is appropriate for her to adorn herself with jewellery.
