Can I name my daughter Ailah/Aylah/A’ilah?

Question

Can I name my baby girl Ailah / Ayla / A'ilah?

Most islamic name websites that I have come across say that it is a Persian or Turkish name meaning moonlight. One website also says that it means noble.

Can you please tell me if this name is permissable? Does this name have a bad meaning in arabic?

Someone said it means "poor" in arabic. Can you please clarify?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

A’ilah pronounced as Aaa’ilah in Arabic means family.

Ailah/Aylah means poor, poverty etc. [1]

We do not recommend the name Aylah or A’ilah.
