I am a student at a foreign university. Currently it ihas been almost one and a half month since I moved to the US. I am paid a stipend at my university and I was wondering if it is compulsory for me to perform the animal sacrifice at Eid-Ul-Adha?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
According to Shariah, Qurbani is Wajib on one who possesses the Nisaab of Zakaat (excluding liabilities and personal assets) on either the 10th, 11th or 13th of Zul Hijjah. [1]
The Nisaab of Zakaat for gold is 20 Mithqals or 87.479 grams. The Nisaab of silver is 200 Dirhams or 612.36 grams.

Therefore, Qurbani will be wajib on you if you possess the Zakaat Nisaab on any of the above three days.
