Zakaat on deposit money
Question
salam. if someone pays a deposit for a shop, does the owner have to pay zakat on this deposit money? because its not his money he will have to give it back to the buyer.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.
We do not understand the question. If a purchaser for the shop paid a deposit towards the purchase price of the shop, why would the seller return the deposit amount to the purchaser?
