is it true that women can ONLY wear fold rings, and not platinum etc

2) is it true that men can wear a platinum ring that is silver plate? if so, then does this ring hve to be 4.5 grams?

Answer

Women can only wear gold and silver rings. (Fataawa Rahimiyah vol.9 pg.158). A man can wear a ring which is silver plaited.

A man is allowed to wear a silver ring with the provision that its weight does not exceed 1 Mithqaal (4.374 grams) of silver. By virtue of of the silver plaiting, permission is granted to wear such a ring. However, one should still observe the weight restriction of 4.374 grams.
