Will this divorce...One of my friend when In the heat of anger while fighting with his wife he said these words to “YOU will DIVORCE” but he just said in his heart

Question

One of my friend when In the heat of anger while fighting with his wife he said these words to ?YOU will DIVORCE? but he just said in his heart, No words of divorce uttered from his mouth. His lips were sealed and no voice comes from his mouth. Just words in his heart. Is his wife is divorce from him. If not is he needs to pay a Kuffara

Answer

Talaaq will only take place if one utters the divorce verbally. If he did not say divorce verbally, but had it in his heart, the divorce does not take place. (Shaami vol.3 pg.227)
