is it ok in islam to be in nikah for this long time without having done reception?
Question
i'm in us right now but basically i;m from pak and i'm in nikha with my wife for 2 years this frb it's gonna be 3 years..we do each other and do all the things that husband and wife would do but so far our rukhsati hasn't taken place (i mean the girl is till in her parents house)it's a mutual consentment that we will not rukhsati until we i pass my exam whcih is medical exam!!my quesiotn is it ok in islam to be in nikah for this long time without having done reception?
Answer
The purpose of performing Nikah is to maintain one?s chastity and abstain from sins. It is advisable for the spouses to be with one another immediately after Nikah. Separation between the spouses after Nikah, especially for lengthy periods of time, is against the purpose and spirit of performing Nikah.
Nevertheless, a separation of any time period between the spouses does not have any bearing on the validity of the Nikah. The Nikah will still be valid and intact.
