Backbiting and forgiveness

Question

By repenting and asking for forgiveness from Allah for backbiting Allah will not forgive you. You have to tell the person to to excuse you. It is said that backbitting is worse than adultery and u cannot simply be forgiven by repenting.if i dont go tothe person I backbited, I will end up in hell and eat her flesh. Is this true?

Answer

If one backbites another person without any justifiable cause in Shari'ah and the person has been informed about the backbiting, then only seeking his apology is compulsory.
