OCD and Tawbah from spreading incorrect Aqaa’id
Question
Assalamu aleykom Brother.
I have a question about sura baqarah ayah 159 and 160.
I have spread wrong knowledge about Allah's sifat and about hazrat Mahdi and other things about Islam.
I have spread it with bad niyah.
I have ocd.
I am asking my self why I did it and I am regretting very much.
My question is what am I have to do now to get my tawba accepted.
Is hiding knowledge khufr?
Jazak Allah Kheyran
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Respected Brother,
You state that you have previously spread incorrect information regarding the various aspects of Islamic belief.
You mention that you suffer from OCD. We advise you to seek medical help in treating your condition.
In light of your condition, we recommend that you engage in excessive Istighfaar i.e. seeking repentance from Allah.
Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful, He says in Surah Zumar (Ayah 53)
Say (on My behalf), “O servants of Mine who have acted recklessly against their own selves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the One who is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful.
If you have previously misinformed anyone, you should attempt to advise them correctly.
Allah Ta’ala says in Surah Baqarah (Ayah 160)
Yet, those who repent and correct and declare (what they used to conceal), their repentance is accepted by Me. I am the Most-Relenting, the Most-Merciful.
We advise you not to entertain thoughts and doubts of Kufr. All praise is due to Allah who has made you realize your error.[1]
You should stay in regular contact with a pious Aalim of your locality and seek guidance from him as often as needed.
We advise you to regularly recite the following duas:
“ O Allah! I seek your protection from the evil whisperings of the Shaytaan, and, O my Rabb, I seek Your protection that they (the Shaytaan) approach me (because they always approach with evil).” Surah Al-Mu’minoon, Verses 97-98)
“O Allah! Make Your fear and remembrance the obsession of my mind and divert my will and courage to the performance of deeds that please You.”
There is no power to neither do any good nor prevent any evil except in Allah
Recite the Ta’awwudh as much as possible.
Also recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah Al-Naas regularly.
We pray to Allah that he grants you relief from your condition and keeps you and us on the straight path.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
