Can surah yaseen be read before fajr?

Question

The hadith mentions reading yaseen in the morning, so does it count if we read it before fajr or it has to be read after fajr ?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

The hadīth in reference is as follows:[i]

عن عطاء بن أبي رباح، قال: بلغني أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: من قرأ يس في صدر النهار، قضيت حوائجه

 (سنن الدارمي 3461)

Translation: it is reported by ‘atā ibn abī rabāh Rayallāhu ‘anhu that it has reached me that Nabī allāhu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam said, “whoever reads surah yaseen in the beginning part of the day, Allāh Ta'āla will fulfil his needs.” (Sunan Al Dārimī)

The hadīth mentions reading surah yaseen in the beginning part of the day. The Islamic day (not date) commences at subh sādiq(dawn). Therefore, surah yaseen should be read after subh sādiq, whether it is before or after reading the fajr salāh.
