Placing a Qur’ān on the head of the bride at the time of rukhsati
Question
Here in our area, when a girl is leaving her home. A quran is placed on her head from the time she steps out of the house untill she reaches the car of her husband. Is it correct?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.
The practice of placing the Qur’ān on the head of the bride until she reaches her husband has no basis in Shari’ah. The bride should be advised to go to her husband and practice on the teachings of the Qur’ān and sunnah to attain barakah and peace in her life.[i]

(قوله وهي اعتقاد إلخ) عزاه هذا التعريف في هامش الخزائن إلى الحافظ ابن حجر في شرح النخبة، ولا يخفى أن الاعتقاد يشمل ما كان معه عمل أو لا، فإن من تدين بعمل لا بد أن يعتقده كمسح الشيعة على الرجلين وإنكارهم المسح على الخفين وذلك، وحينئذ فيساوي تعريف الشمني لها بأنها ما أحدث على خلاف الحق المتلقى عن رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - من علم أو عمل أو حال بنوع شبهة واستحسان، وجعل دينا قويما وصراطا مستقيما اهـ فافهم
