Am I assisting in sin by giving my banking details?
Question
Assalamu allikum Shiekh I live in the uk, recently my friend asked me to help with something. He sold his cat online and he wants me to give my account so that person who bought the cat can put the money in my account and then I will take out the cash and pay him only becuse he is applying for a mortgage and he doesn’t want money coming into his account. I know mortgage is harm, am I making a sin by helping him in this. I hope I am not involved in his mortgage. Jazakallah khair

Your consciousness regarding Halal and Haram is commendable. May Allah bless you with Barakah in your life. Ameen.
Sometimes, unusual deposits in the account could jeopardize the closing and funding of the house [mortgage]. For this reason your friend asked you to provide your account details. You should explain him diplomatically and with wisdom the sin of getting involved in Riba [interest] and it’s consequences in this Duniya and in the Hereafter. You may read the harms of Riba on the following link:
Nonetheless, you may provide your account details to your friend to receive payment for the sale of his cat. [i]

وأما السبب البعيد؛ كبيع الحديد من أهل الفتنة، وبيع العنب ممن يتخذه خمراً، وبيع الآجر والحطب ممن يتخذها كنيسة، أو بيعة، وكذا إجارة الدابة لمن يريد سفر معصية، وأمثالها
