Performing Aqeeqah on behalf of the deceased
Question
Can Aqeeqah be performed for a deceased child or an adult who never had an Aqeeqah done on behalf of him?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Aqeeqah is Mustahab and refers to a sacrificial slaughter on the seventh day following the birth of a child. The slaughter is a form of expressing one's gratitude to Allah Ta'ala for blessing one with a child.[1]
The act of Aqeeqah is reserved for the living. One should not offer the Aqeeqah on behalf of a deceased person.[2] Instead, one may perform Qurbani (sacrificial slaughter) and distribute the meat to the poor with the intention of Isaal e Sawaab on behalf of the deceased.

وَكَذَلِكَ إنْ أَرَادَ بَعْضُهُمْ الْعَقِيقَةَ عَنْ وَلَدٍ وُلِدَ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ؛ لِأَنَّ ذَلِكَ جِهَةُ التَّقَرُّبِ إلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى - عَزَّ شَأْنُهُ - بِالشُّكْرِ عَلَى مَا أَنْعَمَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْوَلَدِ، كَذَا ذَكَرَ مُحَمَّدٌ - رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ - فِي نَوَادِرِ الضَّحَايَا

ووقتها بعد تمام الولادة إلى البلوغ، فلا يجزئ قبلها، وذبحها في اليوم السابع يسن، والأولى فعلها صدر النهار عند طلوع الشمس بعد وقت الكراهة ؛ للتبرك بالبكور

انتقال کے بعد عقیقہ نہیں کیونکہ عقیقہ رد بلا کے لے ہوتا ہے
