Can I read a Yāsīn khatam on behalf of the Messenger of Allāh (Ṣallallāhu ʿAlayhi wa Sallam) and his family?
Question
Asalamualaikim. I would like to find out if it is permissible to read a Yaseen khatam for the prophet Muhammad (saw) and his family. Jazakallah.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu 'alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It is permissible and desirable for one to send a reward of a good deed to any deceased Muslim, such as one's parents, siblings, children, etc. Accordingly, it is permissible to recite a Yāsīn khatam for the Messenger of Allāh (Ṣallallāhu ʿAlayhi wa Sallam) and his family.
