Blood flowing when inserting drip
Question
Please advise. Does one’s wudhu break when a drip is put on. I notice that the blood flows out of your vein into the tubing but is then pumped back into your body. That is it is not exposed to the outside. Occasionally however if the sister is not quick then you do get blood loss to the outside of the tubing.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, once blood exits the body and thereafter flows out, wudhu will break.[1]
The fact that the blood comes out of the body and goes into the tubing nullifies the wudhu. This is irrespective of whether the blood is pumped back in or not.
