Speaking between Tasmiyah and slaughtering the animal - Is the Qurbani in order?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, the Tasmiyah remains valid for a slaughter within that Majlis (sitting).[1]

Accordingly, provided you did not become occupied for a prolonged period with conversation regarding some other matter to the extent that an onlooker would consider you to be occupied in something besides the slaughter, the Qurbani slaughter will be valid and Halal.

Generally, at the time of slaughter, one is occupied with the slaughter and any conversation that occurs is within the context of steadying/calming the animal and attempting to slaughter it. Therefore, such conversation between the Tasmiyah and the actual slaughter will be overlooked and the Qurbani will be valid.

الدر المختار شرح تنوير الأبصار وجامع البحار (ص: 641) [1]

(والمعتبر الذبح عقب التسمية قبل تبدل المجلس) حتى لو أضجح شاتين إحداهما فوق الاخرى فذبحهما ذبحة واحدة بتسمية واحدة حلا، بخلاف ما لو ذبحهما على التعاقب، لان الفعل يتعدد فتتعدد التسمية

ولو سمى الذابح ثم اشتغل بأكل أو

شرب ثم ذبح إن طال وقطع الفور حرم، وإلا لا، وحد الطول ما يستثكره الناظر، وإذا حد الشفرة ينقطع الفور
