Depression - What do i do?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You are aware that it is a sin to shout at your parents. See the following verse:

وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِنْدَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُلْ لَهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُلْ لَهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا (الاسراء: 23)

Translation: Your Rabb has commanded that you worship only Him and that you treat your parents kindly. If anyone of the two or both of them reaches old age with you, then do not even tell them ‘Oof’ and do not rebuke them. Speak gently to them. (Bani Israa’eel: 23)

If you are feeling helpless, you should consult a specialist doctor for analyses and medication.

We also advise you to recite the following Duaas:

• {لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ} [الأنبياء: 87]

Translation: There is no Illah but you. You are Pure. I have certainly been from among the wrong doers. (Ambiyaa: 83)

• كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَرَبَهُ أَمْرٌ قَالَ: يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ (الترمذي: 3524)

Translation: Whenever a matter would distress Rasullullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam) he would recite: O Living and Eternal Maintainer, by your living I seek help. (Tirmidhi: 3524)

• اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الهَمِّ وَالحَزَنِ... (البخاري: 5425)ِ

Translation: O Allah, I take refuge in you from anxiety and sorrow. (Bukhari: 5425)
