Fatwa #4385128 January 2020Trinidad and Tobago

Does the Darul Iftaa maintain its stance on Ml Sa'ad?

Question

As salamu alaikum.

Recently (November 2019), an Alim from Trinidad and Tobago, Mufti Muhammad Mahdi, made a claim in an Ulama group that he had spoken to a classmate of our respected Mufti Desai Sahib. He claimed that this classmate told him that Mufti Sahib acknowledged that his fatwa on Mowlana Saad Sahib is wrong and that Mufti Sahib did not do proper research.

Is there any truth to this claim, or is the Darul Ifta's original stance still in effect.

We have no other way of getting any clarification on this issue and therefore thought it best to ask with respect.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You refer to Fatwa #37487.

The Darul Iftaa maintains its original stance in this issue. The claim in the Ulama group in reference is incorrect.
