Making up Qadha Salaah. How do i do it?
Question
Assalamualikum.
I am 46 years of age. Currently experiencing good barrakah in Imaan which in turn keeps me steadfast with my prayers, quran reading etc. Now It hurts when i remember my past, many many years when i didnt pray, prayed only fajr and left other prayers, both as a child and adult or as a teenager. NOW the need of the time is to make-up for the left sallah and may Allah accept my all the prayers. Ameen. How can i do it properly? Lets say i woke up for fajjr. Now im in hurry to do sunnah and fardh in hurry or time isnt available to wait and do my Naffl-Qadhha sallah (which i didnt do in past). Shall i do only fardh rakkahs or i should only fardh, fajr 2, duhur 4 etc and What is the proper time to do so. Can i just pray on a particular day when i am free from my job, stay home and pray for 2-3 hours, pray as much as in 2's , 3's and 4's. Would that be a right way to do it. Please guide me how to do it. Jazakumullah khairan

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
It gives us great pleasure to hear of your reinvigorated faith. May Almighty Allah keep you steadfast on his Deen. Aameen.
Your worry and concern over your missed prayers (Qadha) is a sure sign of your strengthened Imaan. Alhamdulillah, through the grace of Almighty Allah, you have decided to start making up your Qadha Salaah.
In principle, Qadha Salaah will only be offered for the five daily Fardh and the Witr Salaah as indicated below:[i]

There is no Qadha for Sunnah and Nafl Salaah. The only exception to the rule is the Sunnah of the Fajr of the same day. If it is missed, you have from the time of Ishraaq (approximately 15 minutes after the Sunrise) to midday (approximately 10 minutes before the time of Dhuhr begins) to make up the Sunnah of the Fajr of the same day. After midday, there is no Qadha of the Sunnah of the Fajr. [ii]
Qadha Salaah can be offered anytime of the day except in the following 3 times:
1. Sunrise.
2. Midday (when the Sun is directly over its central meridian, approximately 10 minutes before the time of Dhuhr begins.)
3. As the Sun is setting (with the exception of the Asr Salaah of that same day, which may be offered even as the Sun is about to set.)
If you are not sure how many Salaah were missed, then it is better to use precaution and estimate a higher number than your best estimate.
The procedure of offering many missed Salaah, where one is not aware how many Salaah he missed, is to make the following intention: “I am making up my 1st missed Salaah of Fajr.”
Every time one makes up a missed Fajr he will still make the same intention “I am making up my 1st missed Salaah of Fajr salaah” and likewise for all the other missed Salaah: “I am making up my 1st missed Salaah of Dhuhr Salaah” and so on and so forth.[3]
You state that you may have scheduling difficulties. The following methods may be adopted to facilitate ease.
1. Try to recite one prayer before and after the daily Fardh prayer. For example, recite one Fajr Qadha before and after the Fajr Fardh of today. Similarly, with the remainder of the Salaah.
2. You may allocate two to three hours daily in which you will make up for a few days of missed Salaah.
Keep in mind that if you have a large number of Qadha Salaah, then it will take time to make up all of them. Start slowly and be consistant. Insha-Allah, over time, you shall have covered up for all your missed Salaah.
