Dua for child not speaking

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We make dua Allah ﷻ grant speech to your friend’s son.

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:

وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ [الأنعام: 17]

Translation: If Allah afflicts you with harm, there shall be none (not even a prophet or saint) to remove it except him. (On the other hand) if he grants you good, then he has power over all things (and none can take the good away from you). [surah al-an’aam:17]  

Advice your friend to adopt sabr and turn to Allah ﷻ with dua and adopt all permissible means to make their son speak.

Your friend may consult a speech therapist who specialises in such issues. 

Your friend may also try the following amal (Qur’anic remedy).

Moulana Ashraf Ali Tanvi rahimahullah mentions in “Remedies from the Holy Qur’an”:

“To make a child talk, write Surah Bani-Isra’eel on a plate using saffron as ink. Then wash the plate with 3-4 cups of water and let the child drink that water over a few days.”

This is just a means for cure. It is permissible to practice on something that is tested with the belief that Allah ﷻ is the true curer. Means are only effective with the permission of Allah ﷻ. One should turn to Allah and ask Allah ﷻ for cure and solutions.
