Aqiqa without disclosing

Question

assalamu alaikum

my question is very simple. recently Allah has blessed us with a baby grand-son.

we want to perform his Aqiqa in my country ( bangladesh ) so that we can let the poor people around us to be satisfied with the feast we are going to offer.

now, is it necessary that we have to declare before the guest/poor people that we are observing aqiqa or we may keep silent and our intention i.e. Niyyat will be in our mind only?

question is '' is it necessary to declare this openly or only the the Niyyat is enough and acceptable to ALLAH?

pls enlighten.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If you decide not to disclose the intention behind the feast, you may do so.[1]
