Is it allowed to rent commercial property to a bank?

Question

Is it allowed to rent commercial property to a bank? (Standard bank) . Collect rental from a bank

Please advice

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the property in question has been specifically designed to accommodate the needs of banks then it will be prohibitively disliked (makruh tahrimi).

If, however, the rooms and other details of the property in question are not specifically suited to banks and such rooms would be built and used for other commercial concerns as well then renting to the bank will be slightly disliked (makruh tanzihi). [i]
