Can a gifted cow be used for qurbani?
Question
i am muslim, married.
in my family, i have wife, father, mother, brother&his wife.
this year we are planning to buy cow to sacrifice for qurbani.
but my in law gift me a cow for qurban... so i have a question.
allah will accept our sacrifice with this cow...???
or we need to buy another cow???

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.
You may make qurbani of the cow gifted to you.[1]
And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.

قلنا: الهبة تمليك،
الدر المختار شرح تنوير الأبصار وجامع البحار (ص: 560)
وشرعا: (تمليك العين مجانا) أي بلا عوض، لا أن عدم العوض شرط فيه، وأما تمليك الدين من غير من عليه الدين فإن أمره بقبضه صحت لرجوعها إلى هبة العين (وسببها: إرادة الخير للواهب) دنيوي كعوض ومحبة وحسن ثناء.
