The name Iman

Question

Can I keep my daughter's name as Emaan/Imaan (means:Faith/Beleif in Islam) because I read some where that it is more appropriate not to assign some one with this name. Please advise..

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

It is permissible to keep the name Īmān. However, it is better to keep names of the pious that were mentioned by Allāh and His Prophet (sallAllāhu ‘alayhi wasallam) and the names that are common amongst Muslims.[1]
