What is the ruling for using mouthwash whilst fasting?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh.

It is Makrooh (disliked) to use mouthwash whilst fasting.

Moreover, if the mouthwash is swallowed, the fast will be nullified and Qadha of that fast will be compulsory. [1]

A Miswaak should be used instead to remove any odors from the mouth.
