Qada of four rak’ah zuhr sunnahs
Question
I have missed my 4 rakats pre sunnath of Zuhr prayer as I went a bit late to Masjid. After the Zuhr Fard prayer in congregation, Whether I have to perform the 4 rakats pre sunnath kazha first or the 2 rakats post sunnath ?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Both procedures are permissible. However, it is preferable to perform the two rakats Sunnah first, then the four rakats Sunnats.[1]

(1) (ثُمَّ يَأْتِي بِهَا) عَلَى أَنَّهَا سُنَّةٌ (فِي وَقْتِهِ) أَيْ الظُّهْرِ (قَبْلَ شَفْعِهِ) عِنْدَ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَبِهِ يُفْتَى جَوْهَرَةٌ. (قَوْلُهُ وَبِهِ يُفْتَى) أَقُولُ: وَعَلَيْهِ الْمُتُونُ، لَكِنْ رَجَّحَ فِي الْفَتْحِ تَقْدِيمَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ. قَالَ فِي الْإِمْدَادِ: وَفِي فَتَاوَى الْعَتَّابِيِّ أَنَّهُ الْمُخْتَارُ، وَفِي مَبْسُوطِ شَيْخِ الْإِسْلَامِ أَنَّهُ الْأَصَحُّ لِحَدِيثِ عَائِشَةَ «أَنَّهُ - عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ - كَانَ إذَا فَاتَتْهُ الْأَرْبَعُ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ يُصَلِّيهِنَّ بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ» وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي حَنِيفَةَ، وَكَذَا فِي جَامِعِ قَاضِي خَانْ اهـ وَالْحَدِيثُ قَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ( الدر المختار وحاشية ابن عابدين (رد المحتار) (2/ 58)
