Can a husband see his wife after her death?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

According to the Hanafi Madhab, it is permissible for a husband to see his wife after she has passed away. However, he cannot touch or bathe her[1].

Consider the following text:

( ويمنع زوجها من غسلها ومسها لا من النظر إليها على الأصح ) منية .[در المختار]

قوله ( لا من النظر إليهما على الأصح ) عزاه في المنح إلى القنية ونقل عن الخانية أنه إذا كان للمحرم يممها بيده وأما الأجنبي فبخرقة على يده ويغض بصره عن ذراعها وكذا الرجل في امرأته إلا في غض البصر اه  ولعل وجهه أن النظر أخف من المس فجاز لشبهة الاختلاف والله أعلم [رد المحتار ج 2 ص 198 ايج ايم سعيد]
