Umrah upon children

Question

I made a niyyat to perform umrah this year inshaALLAH together with my wife and two kids (1 child is 5 and the other is 18 months). Other family members will be travelling with us as well.

Is it required that my kids perform the umrah which will imply ihraam, tawaaf, saee etc. Or can i leave them in the room with a responsible family person whilst my wife and I complete our umrah.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is not required for your minor children to perform 'Umrah.
