Is it mandatory to have intercourse with one's spouse?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is not mandatory to be intimate with one’s spouse during the first wedding night.
