In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

1. It is not permissible to work as a mortgage agent due to its involvement in interest (ribā). 

حدثنا عثمان بن أبى شيبة وإسحاق بن إبراهيم - واللفظ لعثمان - قال إسحاق أخبرنا وقال عثمان حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة قال سأل شباك إبراهيم فحدثنا عن علقمة عن عبد الله قال لعن رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- آكل الربا ومؤكله. قال قلت وكاتبه وشاهديه (صحيح مسلم 5/50؛ دار الجيل)

Rasūlullāh صلى الله عليه وسلم cursed the one who takes interest, gives interest, records it, and the one who witnesses it (Muslim)

2. It is permissible to work as a real estate agent as long as it does not involve facilitating mortgages for customers.  Helping arrange interest-bearing loans for customers would entail assisting in sin. 

وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ (المائدة: 2)

And assist one another in righteousness and piety, but do not assist one another in sin and transgression.  And fear Allāh.  Verily, Allāh is severe in punishment (al-Māidah: 2)
