Will my iddah will end with three months or i have to complete three menstural cycle even if it is 4-5 months?
Question
Mufti sahab i am observing iddat of talaq .I have already completed first menstural cycle but have not got my second menses and its already 15 days.Can you please tell me ,that my iddah will end with three months or i have to complete three menstural cycle even if it is 4-5 months.My age is 28 years.Jazakallah khair.
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh
The iddat of Talaaq will only be completed when three menstrual cycles elapse, even if the time of them lasts longer than usual. (Hindiyyah vol.11 pg.195)
الفتاوى الهندية - (ج 11 / ص 195)
وَالْعِدَّةُ لِمَنْ لَمْ تَحِضْ لِصِغَرٍ أَوْ كِبَر أَوْ بَلَغَتْ بِالسِّنِّ وَلَمْ تَحِضْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَشْهُرٍ كَذَا فِي النُّقَايَةِ وَكَذَا لَوْ رَأَتْ دَمًا يَوْمًا ، ثُمَّ لَمْ تَرَ فَعِدَّتُهَا بِالشُّهُورِ هُوَ الصَّحِيحُ وَلَوْ رَأَتْ ثَلَاثَةً دَمًا ، ثُمَّ انْقَطَعَ فَعِدَّتُهَا بِالْحَيْضِ ، وَإِنْ طَالَ إلَى أَنْ تَيْأَسَ كَذَا فِي الْعَتَّابِيَّةِ
