Can a Muslim priest compel a follower to take permission from him or his clergy to conduct Niqah or funeral rites? Charge an exorbitant fees to conduct the religious rites, rituals and ceremonies?

Answer

If the priest is responsible to manage the affairs of the Musjid, then his
permission is required to conduct Nikah and funeral rites at the Musjid. It
is advisable not to charge any fee for the services.
