Answer

Tahajjud Salaat should be offered as Nafl. It is a medium of gaining nearness to Allah and also an expiation for sins, while it strengthens one?s will power in the fight against the lowly Nafs. Allah Ta?ala states, ??during the closing portions of the night, they would be seeking forgiveness from Allah.? (Dhaariyaat)
