performance of Salaat during "forbidden" times. Umra Qadha during this period, is it allowed?

Question

I have always been taught that Salaat is forbidden after the Fardh of Fajr Sallat until the sun has risen. There are however some people who say that it is permissable to make Umra Qadha during this period, is it allowed?

Answer

According to the Hanafi Madhab, it is prohibited to perform any Nafl Salaat after Fajr Salaat until sunrise. It is, however, permissible to perform missed Fardh Salat at that time.
