Is there a need for Muslim economists? Would you recommend Muslims to study in the field of economics?

Answer

There is nothing wrong for Muslims to pursue courses in the economic field and/or become economists.

These economists, by their profession, will advance the course of Islam. It could be by setting up Shari?ah Compliant funds or business opportunities whereby Muslims could benefit, rather than non-Muslims.
