I have been ask by a sister the Islamic view on becoming a 2nd wife to a person. Can you please give me a Shariah point of view on this subject in detail.

Answer

Shari'ah permits males to have a maximum of four wives simultaneously on condition that he maintains equality and justice among all his wives. Therefore, a female can be the second wife.

However, due to the sensitive nature of becoming a second wife and the implications on the subsisting marriage, one should exercise extreme precaution.
