In continuation of question 7930, people perform masah over their socks, it is very common in Saudi Arabia, How can we avoid.

Question

Usually there is Jamaah in the office or we go to Masjid, but throughout Saudi Arabia it is very common. They believe that it is permissible. Please clarify and suggest the best possible solution. May Allah reward you all.

Answer

Masah over the cotton socks is not permissible according to all four schools of thought, viz. Maaliki, Shaafi, Hanafi, Hanbaliy. This is an innovation of the Salafi sect. Kindly refer attached.
