What is the significance of QAWWALI in islam ?

Question

Listening to music is not allowed still why some very well known AULIYA-E-KARAM propagated the listening of QAWWALI.

Answer

Music is expressly prohibited in many Ahaadith. Among the dominant purposes of our beloved Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) was to destroy musical instruments. (Mishkat vol.2). and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best Mufti Ebrahim Desai
