new kaaba

Question

Assalam-u-alaikum Mufti Ebrahim saheb At a university nearby our's, the Muslim Student Association have made a 10' by 10' kaaba. It's basically grills all around with a black sheet around it. The purpose of this is for non-muslims and Muslims to come and get knowledge. It has many books in it for students to come inside and read and so on and was placed in the library of this university for 2 weeks. Now our MSA is renting it for about 2-3 weeks. Is it allowed to build such a thing according to Islamic shariah?

Answer

The structure is not built with the intention of replacing the Ka'abah. It
is merely built in the form of the Ka'abah for educational purposes. It is
similar to the models of the Ka'abah available in various shops in Makkah
Mukarramah.
