What is the ruling regarding somebody who is unable to keep his wudu for a long time due to breaking wind often?

I have been told by a Hanafi that I would only be 'excused' if my problem lasts continuously for an entire salat time such that I could not keep my wudu for long enough to perform the Fard salat. Is this correct? Is there any other position within the Hanafi madhab? What are the positions of the other schools?
